Description

5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

Revelation 6:5-6

Read the comments I posted for the white horse first if you haven't already: [link]

If you compare this one to the red horse picture: [link] you'll notice I continued the mountain. This mountain does not have a particular meaning, but serves more for transition between each piece. The mountain in the back on the other hand does have significance; it's Mount Sinai to represent Moses.

The cows running around every where, have a couple of meanings behind them. They are the cows from the dream that the pharaoh had that Joseph interpreted (who also lived during this time period). In one part of this dream there were 7 good healthy cows (orange cows) that come out of a river (which is only a dried river bed here) and 7 unhealthy cows (white cows) follow. The unhealthy cows consumed the healthy cows, which is why the white cows here are chasing the orange cows. In this dream the good cows represent 7 years of plentiful food, and the 7 bad cows represent 7 years of famine that follow, so these cows also serves as another symbol of famine.

In the tree on the left, I hid the third beast that announces the horse in the tree on the left. This beast has the face of a man.

The tree on the right, like the mountain on the left, does not have significance, but it connects to the next and last picture in this series.

If you have not noticed, the sky get's a bit darker, or later in the day with each piece. The first on was supposed to be in the morning, the second; afternoon (I made it darker with the storm), this one; evening, and the next on is during the night.

This one took by far the longest, but I am the least pleased with this one (ironically the one that I took the least amount of time on (the pale one) turned out to be the best in my opinion). Rendering some of the cow anatomy was a bit hard, because I kept trying to make them look horses.

Done in pastels.

This is traditional? It looks very computer-y to me....

I think it's interesting that you went minimalist here, which in my opinion makes it much creepier than the others.
